Missed Apex presents the Marlin Memorial GT3 Enduro Cup

Missed Apex Podcast wants you to race with us for 12 hours around Silverstone on 15 January 2022 and compete for the Marlin Memorial GT3 Enduro Cup in the name of a great cause. Bring a team of 2-5 or sign up as an individual and we’ll place you in a team that suits your aims of fun or competitiveness

The Marlin Memorial GT3 Enduro cup is dedicated to long time fan of Missed Apex, Marlin McGlone. Marlin sadly passed away from cancer aged just 38 last August. He was a devoted friend, amazing son and husband, and a voracious Formula One fan (who had fantastic taste in F1 podcasts!). Marlin was an avid listener of the show and shared his passion with his friends who in turn have become listeners and Patreons. To honour him, we want to put on a fantastic event and raise loads of money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sign up today for a minimum suggested donation of £10 per driver and join us for a great 12-hour event broadcast on the Missed Apex Motorsport youtube channel with live commentary from the Missed Apex crew. 100% of donations go straight to McMillan and all of the admin and broadcast crew are donating their time for free

To enter: fill in the form below and send your donation directly to the Just Giving page. Any donation to our cause as part of your entry is appreciated. Head over to our Just Giving page: https://gameheroes.macmillan.org.uk/fundraising/missed-apex

You can join as a team or as an individual entrant (we’ll find you a team) and compete in the Gold or Silver class. You can choose to enter a team in either class though we may move some Silver teams to the Gold class (depending on entrant numbers and standard) These decisions will be based on your team iRating at the point of registration .

Both classes race together on track so it doesn’t make a huge difference except that the Gold Class will be taken more seriously, stewarded more strictly and will attract drivers and teams looking for results. If you’re an individual looking to take it seriously then mark yourself as gold. The Silver class will likely attract drivers looking for a lower pressure team and a bit of a social event and there may be the opportunity to clear penalties and black flags with donations or purchase other advantages such as grid spots (just examples. We are going to workshop these options with entrants pre event).

If you are an individual, please state a preference of class to compete in and we will do our best to match you up. State in the form whether you want a casual team that just want to participate and have fun or you’d like us to put you in a team that perhaps takes things more seriously . see Discord/etc for more details on race and class structure.

Format

Teams of 2-5 drivers will compete from 10am to 10pm (GMT on Saturday 15 January).

The pack will set off via a rolling start at 10am GMT. The pack will be set by the results of an open qualifying immediately preceding the race start.

Teams will have to remain within an incident limit or serve a drive through.

At Missed Apex, we operate on the principle of being a good sim citizen. A dim view is taken on “Xbox lobby” antics. A full list of expected conduct and rules will be issued before the event via a written driver brief and this will be repeated over game chat.

All drivers will be required to be in the dedicated Discord server and have game chat enabled. Game chat will be for communication with race control and there are also limited permissible uses such as informing other drivers of damage or race relevant things such as “pass left” or “I have damage”. You will be able to set up a team channel in the discord or hang out in the general discord for more informal chat.

The event will have a live race control that can communicate with drivers throughout the event, providing guidance and live stewarding. Missed Apex stewards will have the power to issue penalties such as but not limited to, time penalties, handing back places, drive throughs, and ultimately disqualification.
